We hear a lot about how important gratitude is in making us happier. In her latest book, Didn't See That Coming, Rachel Hollis addresses that topic, but goes one step further—figure out what gives you joy and schedule it into your day. My cup of coffee before anyone else is awake, my morning run, my evening walk with my husband, my reading time on the couch—they all give me joy, and the day feels incomplete without them.
I don’t want to live a life where I constantly feel like I need a vacation--I want to take a vacation from everyday stressors for a time every day. For me it means doing all those things that bring me joy, while focusing on the present moment.
What bit of joy have you scheduled into your day?
